Description
1613 King James Bible - folio THE HOLY BIBLE, Conteyning the Old Testament and the New: Newly translated out of the Originall Tongues: and with the former translations diligently compared and reuifed by his Maiefties speciall commandmant. Appointed to be read in Churches. Imprinted at London by Robert Barker, Printer to the Kings moft excellent Maiestie. Anno Dom. 1613. With hard off-white exterior and red Moroccan "Holy Bible" title band on raised spine, this 1613 King James Version printing of the Scriptures is in excellent condition. Front cover is bent upward. Joints appear to have been repaired and new, marbled flyleaves inserted. Page edges are red. Former seller notes that there are a few leaves missing, including 2 preliminary leaves and the last leaf of Revelation, and that some leaves are mounted or imperfect. This is an accurate description as all other text pages appear to be present. A few pages precede Signature B, but otherwise the collation could be listed as complete from first B signature (signatures begin again when Scriptural text starts) through Nnnn3 of Revelation. Nnnn4 is the last leaf of Revelation, which is missing. New Testament has its own title page. General title is present and intact with only light soiling and foxing; appears to have been remounted. "To the Reader" (first leaf) has repair at margin and a small hole with slight loss of text. "To the Reader" is unpaginated but appears to be complete nonetheless. Thirty-four pages of genealogies and 13 pages of the Common Prayer Calendar precede the Scriptures. Genealogies are introduced with a title page. Page 5-6 of the genealogies is misplaced after page 10, and the other leaves of the genealogy--those preceding 9-10--do not have page numbers and have been partially replaced. Misplaced leaf 5-6 is missing approximately half or slightly less on both sides, but has been remounted with plain paper. Other page replacements contain the material that would be otherwise missing and have been excellently replaced. Genealogy pages appear to be all present, if the pagination was considered to start on the title page. Lack of pagination on the first few leaves of the genealogy (dependable pagination begins on page 9 of the genealogy) makes the completeness slightly suspect, though it is probably complete. Calendar of Common Prayer begins at signature C and does not have a separate title. Signature D begins with Almanac page and Easter calculator calendar. Order of Psalms follows, as well as feast days on D4. The Verso is Order of Books. Mostly minor marginal repairs throughout Pre-Scriptural text (D4). Tiny burn hole on A3 of the Scriptures. Leaf Aa has a few spots of black mildew but it does not obliterate the text. Ll2 has original minor flaw, but the text is legible. Qq4 has a fairly small ink stain particularly on the verso though it shows on both sides. Text beneath the stain (which is fairly small) is difficult to read but still possible. Qq5 also has a few small spots. Text is legible. Stains on the last leaf of Ss. Bbbb3 is mislabeled as Bbb3 but otherwise correct. Staining extends throughout large portions of the pages in the last part of the New Testament; however, the staining is light to moderate and does not obstruct (though it does touch) the text. Throughout the text there are a few minor marginal tears. Overall, however, this is a very excellent copy of the Scriptures with nearly all pages present and intact and was one of the earliest printings of the noted King James Version.       SHIPPING: FREE shipping and secure packaging for all 50 US States and Territories.
