Description: 10 vols of text + Atlas volumen containing 13 folding maps colored in outline; " THE LEADING ESSAY IN CONTEMPORARY HISTORY OF GREATER COLOMBIA". First edition of this work, complete with the 10 volumes of text and the Atlas. The author is considered to be one of the founders of the Republic and the father of Colombian history. Restrepo took part in all the events leading to the independence of his homeland; he was appointed by Simon Bolivar Secretary of Interior from 1821 to 1830; he was also President of the Government Committee and member of the Board of Ministers. The work provides numerous reliable historical data to study and understand the development period of the Colombian and Venezuelan Nation; it is written with entire honesty by a witness and participant of the related events; volumes 8, 9 and 10 reproduce documents and letter reproductions proving and certifying the events narrated in previous volumes. The Atlas includes 13 maps engraved in Paris by Darmet, which describe the different departments of the Colombian Republic.
