Description
This GORGEOUS pair of bookends has been in my family all my life ~ but it's time to let them go to another collector... They're Federal eagles, dating from the mid-19th Century. Heavy weighted bronze with brilliant gilt wash, the set weighs a full 9 pounds. On the rear side there is a "JB 2060" or "J3 2060"; the first two digits are hard to make out. The bases are lined with a metal plate under the green felt buffers. Way back in 1992, an ASA-certified appraiser told me the set was worth upwards of $250 retail... CONDITION: WOW. Gilt has been rubbed off the tops of the heads and beaks; more on one than the other. Minor tonings and/or rubbings along the bases of the plinths; darkening around the spaces between the claws of the feet. NO dings, NO scratches, why on earth am I selling these?!? Winning bidder please check Calculator for your zone: Parcel Post or Priority available. Canada & overseas extra, please inquire! Thanks for looking!
